You have decided on the vacation destination Lindau in Lake Constance and still do not know what you can do? Then we have the perfect weekly plan for you. We help you to fill out your vacation so that you can enjoy it stress-free. We are also happy to advise you personally on site.
Day 1: Ready for vacation on the island
Welcome to Lindau! Arrive first and enjoy a relaxed café along the Lindau harbor promenade. After a little refreshment you can discover many individual stores while window shopping on the island through Maximilianstraße and the small side streets. Don’t forget to take a look at the architectural highlights. You want to end the first day relaxed? Then a hearty dinner in one of Lindau’s typical inns, e.g. Gasthof Engel in Schafgasse 4, Gasthaus “Zum Sünfzen” in Maximilianstraße 1 or Landgasthof Köchlin in Kemptener Straße 41 on the mainland, is just the thing.
Day 2: A guided tour of the city is not to be missed
Book yourself a historical guided tour of Lindau Island: a time travel through Lindau’s culture, history and tradition, which will take you to the most interesting sights of the island.
After the discovery tour of the island, we recommend a little change of perspective: the three-country panoramic tour on a ship of the Bodensee Schiffsbetriebe. Departure is from the Lindau harbor.
As soon as you feel solid ground under your feet again, make a stop at the New Lighthouse. From there you have a very special perspective on Lindau and the island.
Day 3: Let's go by bike
Day 3 is pedaling: The panoramic bike tour with 25.6km. Cycle along the shore of Lake Constance from Lindau via Wasserburg and Nonnenhorn into the Lindau hinterland to Bodolz, enjoy the view at 7 different stations. You can rent a bike directly at the campsite or also in Lindau.
You need a little cooling down after the bike tour? Then visit the lido Lindenhof with free access to Lake Constance or the nostalgic art nouveau park lido Bad Schachen.
After the great bike tour, the final visit to the “Rädle” should not be missed. Enjoy the farm or estate bar, where you can always get a delicious snack in addition to home-produced wine or cider.
Day 4: Today it will be flowery
It goes by ship to Constance. Visit the flower island Mainau with its lush sea of flowers and numerous attractions for young and old.
Day 5: It becomes international
It’s off to our neighbors in Austria: get on board and travel by ship from Lindau to Bregenz. The visit to the Bregenz local mountain “Pfänder” must not be missed. From the harbor you can reach the station of the Pfänderbahn in a few minutes on foot – sporty on foot or comfortably by train up the mountain. In addition to a great view, an inn awaits you for a stop and the alpine game park.
Back in the valley, we recommend a stroll through Bregenz. You can return to Lindau by boat or train.
Day 6: Museum "friedens räume"
You want to spend your penultimate day relaxing? Then we recommend a walk through the Lindenhof Park, which was laid out in the 19th century – one of the most attractive gardens in southern Germany. While there, you can pay a visit to the “friedens räume” museum in the Villa Lindenhof in Bad Schachen. The interactive forum invites you to explore the topic of peace.
Back on the island, head out onto the lake again for a boat trip on the “Hohentwiel,” the only paddle steamer on Lake Constance. Afterwards, you can round off your evening with a visit to the Bavarian Casino Lindau.
Day 7: Check out the region
In addition to the Lindau area and the island, you can visit other Lake Constance highlights. Besides the Säntis or the Witzwanderung, the UNESCO World Heritage Site in St. Gallen or the Dornier and Zeppelin Museum are also worth a day trip.
